This is a brand new Warp 9 motor bought by a local guy who decided he wants a Siamese9 set up now that Eric and I are about to build some.   As he’s just wanting to recoup his costs from it and being it was “already here”, I figuered I could spice it up before it got listed on Ebay.   In addition to getting a good go over, this motor now sports an anodized AL variable timing ring for those who’d like to play with brush timing.

After skimming and countersinking the housing, I brought it nextdoor to Underground Customs paint shop and asked Todd to throw a little love on it with total freedom on what EVer he wanted to do.   Sometime over the weekend he finished her and came by today to tell me she was done.   I got EVerything bottoned up as well today and she runs as good as she looks, because beauty only runs skin deep, right? 

I’ll be listing this up at Ebay here soon (sorry there will have to be a reserve put on it, lol)and will give another heads up when it’s listed.   Anyway here’s your chance at owning a signature series Hi-Torque motor without the wait.   BTW, in the course of building this motor I did put a little >< chip on the paint, but I don't think you can see it to bad, but I'd like to know if you all can see it 8^)   but with that said this motor is (if nothing else) built like a...steel brick!

Well it’s been a while since my last post but I’m happy to announce that the motors were shipped out to Shawn and he ought to have them early next week.  For those who may just be hearing about this project, it shouldn’t be long before you hear about it tearing up records 8^o   The rail will sport 4) Modified ADC 9″ motors, 4) Zilla controllers and 4500+ A123 battery cells made into 4 seperate packs (one for each motor) so this thing’s gonna fly like a Batt(ery) out of hell!   

In starting this project we had wanted to set them up as the first Siamese 9 motors but that didn’t pan out (it’s a whole other story) anyway, I ended up teaming up with an old machinest buddy of mine (who happens to be just one street down) who made shafts that have an 1 1/8th” tail shaft to couple to the 1 1/8th”  DE shaft on the front motor (it’ll have two side by side and two inline).  Although not a “dream” shaft it’ll be a lot better than having to couple to the 7/8th” shaft they come with OEM.   Hopefully by the time Shawn rips these shafts in half my hope is Eric will be able to create some splined shafts as replacements.   

I’ve got these motors set up with the veriable timing rings with as solid copper brush leads as fat as would fit coupled with as fat a flex connection that still flexes, lol.  I had Todd the paint guy add his skills to them and he patterned them after the dragsters paint.   It truly has been an honor to work on this project and it’s my hope that they’ll drive Shawn and crew to some “respectable” times and EVen better become the quickest EV in the world 8^o  That’s right Killacycle there’s a new kid in town ;^)   (just kidding  Bill knows all about this).

Well Matt got his poor baby shipped up to me after a little run in with a local thug.   If the short to frame (ground) wasn’t left in the armature, this probably would never had made the trip up to me but in the end I’m glad it did, as there were a couple things that were fixed before they caused Matt further hair lose 8^o

Rather than describe everything here I’d rather let the pics do most of the talking.  I’ve decided to call this album “Hack vs Husted”

I got her done in time with a little room to spare.  Nothing to fancy but she’s pretty stout and should make a fun project for someone.   This motor started out life as a 7.5 ”,  36 volt Crown drive motor and weighs about 80 lbs.  The drive end (DE) plate is square and a little funky but I found it’ll bolt right to an Advance FB1 9″ DE plate.  This motor would probably do a light car conversion but feel it would shine as a MC motor and in fact have a twin going to Florida here soon for that purpose.  I’ve advanced the timing for both directions and she’s set for a CCWDE rotation right now.  people planning on a lower more OEM voltage like 48 volts (maybe even up to 72 volts) would probably want to reset the position back to neutral.  Anyway come on out to PIR in Portland this Friday and Saturday night and help support NEDRA and buy a raffle ticket and maybe you’ll bring home a sweet little motor. 

I did talk to Brain Hall who agreed that if you buy a ticket Friday and can’t make it to Saturdays EVent that you do not need to be present to win.  I am willing to freight it out but the winner will have to pay freight if not picked up at the race.  I didn’t have time to take to many pics but have it against an ADC 9″ on one for size.  They can be seen in the nationals album 1/2 way down on page two, or just click here.

Thanks to Bill Dube and team Killacycle not to mention A123 Batteries, White Zombie sported an 880 cell, 374 volt lithium battery pack this last weekend at PIR  8^)   At only 175 lbs it trimmed the Zombie down over 600 lbs!   Being Killacycle was also racing at PIR along with WZ I was needing to produce twice as much anti-flashover mojo and in fact as much as I could muster 8^o   With my two fastest motor pairs racing the same day same track this could be really, really good 8^) or really, really, bad 8^( 

Just to add to the pucker factor there were more cameras there than when Paris got out of jail!  Good or bad, this was going to be recorded about as well as any EVent.   I really wasn’t into watching my motors burn up on national TV (most likely played in slow motion to capture EVery little plasma pool of what used to be my baby) so I told the twins to activate their “wonder twin” powers and to hold on tight tonite 8^o   Further adding to this was that both WZ and KC were sporting new not very tested mods concerning brush timing and shifting.

White Zombie basted into a 11.47 second run at 114+ MPH for what should be a new record being backed up by a 11.555 run, although I’m not sure how the record rules apply but regardless Zombies record will fall 8^)

Killacycle was a real crowd pleaser but failed to lower it’s record this weekend 8^(   Although it wasn’t all bad either as it set it’s best 60′ time of 1.15 seconds (PIR said it’s their fastest 60′ recorded), it’s best 1/8th mile time, and it’s best top speed of 158 MPH all on the same run but about 3/100th of a second slower than the record.   The reaction from the crowd when it launches was a hoot.  Regular race fans came out Saturday just to watch White Zombie and Killacycle run again.  I thought it also showed how consistant the bike is as no one can be calling it a one hit wonder as it also amazed fans at the Woodburn track this weekend in addition to the two PIR shows! 

Long story short is, when the smoke cleared the motors held their ground run after run and kinda looked good doing it 8^)   I drove home feeling pretty dang proud to have been a part of both White Zombie and Killacycle at pushing the electric envelope!   I’d like to personally thank each member of Killacycle for their efforts in coming out and showing us what “fast” looks like 8^)  Most people wonder how Scotty holds on to it!

I was also able to debut Mike Willmons newly torqued out Warp9 with a TransWarp9 sidekick.   I’ll post a fuller album when I’m not as burnt out as I am now but I wanted to post a few pics for those not there.  These are going into a Pinto Mike’s named Crazyhorse 8^)   Truthfully the pics don’t do them justice but this is what I could capture here.
